Roberta Anne Drury was a compassionate daughter, sister, aunt, and friend whose life was marked by kindness and a genuine concern for others. Born in Syracuse, Roberta moved to Buffalo to help care for her older brother in his fight against leukemia. Her decision reflected the selflessness and devotion to family that defined her life. She believed deeply in showing up for the people she loved and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need.
She is remembered for "that smile that could light up a room."
"When people ask, how many children do you have? I don't know what to say. Will I ever be able to enjoy her birthday August 11, ... how will my family ever have a nice thought of a beautiful spring day on May 14th?" said her mother, Leslie VanGiesen. "My life has been profoundly changed. My life view is just saddened. Robbie's family, my family has been permanently damaged and there is no punishment that will ever reverse our loss."
Today, Robbie Drury’s legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched and through the memories shared by those who loved her. She is remembered as a woman who lived with an open heart and whose example continues to inspire others to lead with love.
